6 Exercise Bikes: Precor RBK 815 vs. the Vision R20

The name Precor is to exercise equipment what the name Harley Davidson is to motorcycles. So, while you may be paying more for a Precor exercise bike, it is because you are receiving a better quality, more comfortable bike. You won’t be throwing away a Precor in 5 years as you might with one purchased from a department store.

The RBK 815
The designers of the Precor TBK815 Recumbent Bike Experience TM Series spent a lot of time designing a bike that would be as comfortable as possible so that the user can stay on it longer, concentrate more on the workout and less on body strain. The seat of the RBK 815 is angled for optimal comfort and maximum low back support. The back of the seat features a “floating” suspension system, so that as you move, the seat moves with you, instead of your muscles fighting against a stationary seat back.
To better aid your knees and reduce shear force on them, Precor designed the seat rail angle with a 15 degree offset from the crank axle so that the knee is directly over the ball of the foot when the pedals are in the 2 and 8 o’clock positions.

The Vision R20
At half the price, the Vision R20 Recumbent Bike is not as ergonomically luxurious as the RBK 815, but it is still a very good bike. The most impressive thing about the R20 is the visuals. The R20 classic comes with a large, easy to read LCD screen. The R20 Elegant has a 7” LCD display and the R20 Touch features a 10” high definition full-color touchscreen display with nike+ipod integration. Whether you’re watching your telemetric data, or watching a virtual vista of a beautiful mountain road, your eyes will definitely thank you for purchasing this bike. It’s an affordable exercise bike that offers the same features as its expensive counterpart.
