How Proper Clothing Can Help Your Fitness

How Proper Clothing Can Help Your Fitness

After an intensive exercise you will probably be sore, tired, a little proud, and of course, covered in your sweat.

Your body’s on fire and the last thing on your mind right now is another set of squats and Russian twists.

And anyone who exercises regularly would want to make sure that you’re getting the most out of your exercising- after all, that is your time and you want to maximize efficiency.

Well, a little known fact is that the clothes you wear when you are exercising actually make a difference in the effectiveness and impact on your exercise.

Several factors including the material, the way it would be made, and others.

Let’s talk about the importance of these factors and which types of things would be the best for all of the different clothes you’d use when exercising.

Clothes Make the Workout

Overall, when you’re choosing exercise clothing, you’re going to want to look for products that have breathable fabric that is able to easily wick away moisture in order to keep you feeling cool and dry.

This makes a tremendous difference in how you feel when working out.

Cotton is somewhat of a good choice, but kinda controversial due to the fact that it doesn’t wick moisture away, but it does keep you colder due to the fact that the moisture will stick to you.

Whether you get cotton or another fabric is up to you.

Jazz it Up with Accessories

No, we’re not talking about donning some tassels on your sweatpants. You also need to keep in mind of the type of yoga mats to use—preferably absorbent enough for sweaty workout sessions.

Keep in mind the type of clothes you’ll be wearing when you’re including jumping rope into your regular exercise program. And speaking of ropes, invest in quality jumping ropes such as the Spri Deluxe Adjustable Speed Jump Rope.

An added bonus: You can choose a color that matches your clothes!

Environment and Weather

Also, keep in mind the environment when you’re exercising outside or in a place where there might be a ton of windows.

For example, working out outside in the summertime can be unbearable, especially in Baton Rouge. You’ll especially want breathable fabrics around these times, and maybe even looser clothes than normal to get even more of a breeze on your skin.

A plus would be to choose lighter colored clothes so that the sun’s rays don’t try to stay onto you.

For colder times, you’ll want to still keep a breathable shirt on, but also choose an outer layer that supports ventilation, as you’re still going to be working out.

Also, it’d probably be smart to choose an outer layer you can take off easily in case you get too hot while working out and need cooling down. It happens to everyone.

Comfort Over Style

While this may not seem like an absolute necessity, you are going to want to be comfortable in your exercising clothes.

For example, if you’re working out and you put on the wrong shoes, you’ll end up with blisters that will make you not want to run until they’re gone. A shirt that’s too tight might end up giving you fabric burns. And there are just too many ways to go wrong with pants, honestly.

Not only this but if you feel confident in both the fabric and the style of the article of clothing, you’ll also feel confident and want to exercise even more due to the fact that you’re not worried about being self-conscious.

When you’re exercising, you will want to make sure that you aren’t restricted in any way whatsoever movement-wise.

One of the biggest factors that will detriment your movement are tight clothes or clothes that just don’t work that well for exercise.

For example, skinny jeans: they are absolutely horrible for exercise, especially running.

They aren’t breathable pieces of clothing and aren’t designed with comfort in mind.

But the worst thing that will happen in skinny jeans is that you won’t be able to move as well, which is really important.

While it’s obvious that you won’t wear skinny jeans to your gym or for a run outside, you might get a bad deal on your exercise clothing and end up with clothes that are basically just skinny jeans but look like leggings.

All in all, it’s really important that you’re able to move in your clothes. If you can try out your clothes where you’re purchasing them, maybe try a few stretching positions to make sure that what you’re purchasing is comfortable for you.

Choose Clothes that are Appropriate for Any Type of Workout

In general, the clothing that you purchase and choose to wear to work out means a great deal to your physical fitness and exercise capabilities.

The fabric chosen needs to be breathable and wick moisture away if you don’t want to be wet, or hold onto it if you want to be colder.

You need to take into consideration the weather and the temperature when you’re planning on going outside, as you don’t want your progress to be hindered by it being too hot or too cold.

Whether you’re prepping your core with a set of reliable climber machines or going the distance with a treadmill, you’ll want to be comfortable in your clothes so that you can feel confident, and you’ll want to be able to actually move so you can actually exercise well.

Clothes are really that important.
