When Should I Start Working Out for a Great Summer Body?

As the spring heats up, everyone is starting to think about the hazy and lazy days of summer. This often includes lounging at the beach or splashing around by the pool. These activities include baring your body in a swimsuit or shorts. Now is the time people start to wonder when they should start working out for a great summer body.

Don’t Expect Miracles

If you start working out two weeks before Memorial Day, you can’t expect to achieve your desired results. It might help you feel a bit better but it simply is not enough time to get into swimsuit shape. Fad diets usually leave you feeling too weak and disappointed to enjoy the first sultry days of summer. While you can start working out right before Memorial Day, it is likely you won’t see real results until Fourth of July.

Invest in a Home Gym

One of the best ways to ensure you workout all year round is to invest in a home gym. Include resistance training and aerobics machines in your home gym to workout every part of your body. Consider investing in equipment you would find at a local gym, such as Hoist PTS ENS3 and the Precor TRM 425. This makes it possible to workout even when it is cold outside and you might not feel like taking a walk or heading to the gym. Working out all year round is the best way to have a summer-ready body.

Get Realistic

If you forgot to workout from the holiday season until March, now is the time to get realistic about fitness. You may have blown past your New Year’s resolution to get fit but you need to get serious in March and April. This will give you about eight to ten weeks to workout for a better body. Now is the time to cut out sugary and salty snacks, soda and alcohol. Keep track of everything you eat in a food journal to get a realistic idea of your calorie and fat intake. Dust off your home gym equipment or invest in the pieces you need to succeed. If you workout for at least 30 minutes, 5 days a week, you will start to see results by summer.

Fitness is a State of Mind

People are reminded about how their bodies look when the warmer weather arrives and you can’t hide under a sweater or coat anymore. But fitness should be a year-round state of mind. Once you start to get in shape for summer, make a resolution to incorporate fitness into all the months of the year. Exercising releases feel-good endorphins to fuel your day and feel more energized. Regular exercise can also help you ward off health conditions such as obesity, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and more. Eat healthy foods that complement your workout routine. When you workout all the time, you never have to worry about getting fit at the last minute for summer or a milestone event in your life.
