Is An Elliptical the Way to Go?
This entry was posted on February 22, 2014.
The elliptical trainer is an admittedly funny-looking contraption with its long, ski-like pedals. But it’s been a valuable part of the fitness equipment world for more than 20 years for a reason: The elliptical offers a low-impact cardio workout that can’t be beat.
Ellipticals were designed to be easy on the joints, so they’re perfect for people with bad knees who can’t handle running; and even though the impact is minimal on the joints, it’s still a fantastic cardiovascular workout. Ellipticals let you simulate running, walking, or riding a bike, and some incorporate both upper- and lower-body motion as well.
At Fitness Expo, we’re pleased to be able to offer you elliptical trainers from ElliptiGO, Precor, Life Core, Life Fitness, and others. And, surprise, the ElliptiGOs—3C, 8C, and 11R—are actually built to be taken out on the road. Again, they’re kind of funny looking, but the 3C gives you the basic resistance levels and in a more comfortable position than standard bike riding. The 8C takes it up a notch with 8 levels of resistance and the capacity to ride on flat or moderately hilly surfaces; you’ll get a killer cross-training workout from the 8C.
But Fitness Expo isn’t just about ElliptiGO. Even our most basic models have heart-rate controls, moving arms for a full-body workout, slip-resistant pedals, and clear, high-tech readout displays. The Precor EFX 5.21 is a smaller, affordable home unit. The handles are mounted, so you get a lower-body workout, but you get an adjustable ramp angle (three positions) and eight programming levels.
You can see there’s a lot to know about ellipticals today, so you’re lucky that Fitness Expo has 5 locations staffed with engaging and enthusiastic staff who are eager to share their expertise with you. With such a large range of ellipticals to choose from, it’s easy to get lost in the options. So our staff are ready to hear from you what you need and direct you to the right machine to meet those needs. Whether you’re doing it in private or you’re ready to take your workout on the road with the ElliptiGO, you’ll leave Fitness Expo with the best trainer for your budget and your workout goals.
