Treadmills

Believe it or not, there was once a time when people were forced to leave the comfort of their home if they wanted to go for a run. It wasn’t until the late 1960s that mechanical engineer William Staub created the very first home-use treadmill, after reading that individuals who run for eight minutes four or five times a week were in better physical condition. This bit of knowledge came from a book published in 1968 entitled “Aerobics” and written by Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper.

Thanks to Mr. Staub’s invention (which he then sent to the author who inspired him to build it), we now have the home-use treadmill for all your running needs. You can now get your eight minutes of running in without ever leaving the comfort of your home. If you get tired, you can just get off and stop running. Need to use the restroom mid-run? No problem – just hop off the treadmill, use the facilities and you can come back to where you left off.

Of course, with the treadmill having been around now for over 40 years now, there are many makes and models to choose from. Sure, they each have their basic function of letting you hop on and run, but many also have various features like various speeds or inclines, monitoring your heart and calorie deficits, and other useful functions. So how do you decide?
